Limitless Leaders™ Connection: Ramp up your remote work with visuals

Limitless Leaders Ramp up your remote work with visuals

When working remotely, the first thing that we miss is the physicality of working with other people.

As much as remote work can increase productivity, connection and collaboration can be hindered if we don’t regularly review and renew what is working as far as communication is concerned.

Technology will never fully replace human interaction, but it is a resource we need to understand and leverage, or we will be left behind. Never have we been so connected and if we use the right systems in the right way, the sky is the limit as to where we can work and what we can achieve.

The evidence

One of the most collaborative and visually connecting technologies is video conferencing. Think Zoom, Skype and Webex, to name a few. More engaging and true-to-life video solutions are replacing audio-only conference calls. There are many articles published attributing video communication to an increase in productivity, better connected teams, it is more straightforward, and a more engaging way to meet.

To continue to develop your team, tap into online courses, internal learning platforms and virtually run programs and webinars.

Utilising technology, when working remotely, helps alleviate the challenges of working alone. Although you aren’t ‘pressing the flesh’ so to speak, it's the second best thing to bridge the gap many face working in remote teams.

A 2019 Impact of video conferencing report found:

  • 94% of businesses say video conferencing increases productivity
  • 90% of respondents say video makes it easier to get their point across
  • 89% of respondents agree that video conferencing reduces time to complete projects or tasks
  • 89% of users say video conferencing helps them feel connected
  • 99% of respondents think that improving communication and collaboration can impact productivity positively
  • 87% of employees not physically present for a meeting report feeling better engaged with colleagues through video

Tap into what your team needs

Mix up your interactions and tap into the preferences of what your team needs.

  • Supercharge video conferencing tips
  • Dress for work not for Netflix
  • Our physiology creates our psychology
  • Ensure the frame behind you represents you professionally
  • Create rules around cameras on/off, muting and question time
  • Dial up your energy by 20%
  • Actively listen
  • Match pace, pitch and words
  • Give the speaker undivided attention and acknowledge them
  • Defer judgement until all have spoken
  • Provide feedback
  • Match sitting or standing posture
  • Stand up to increase your energy on longer calls
  • Make sure your hands are in screen view

As always, I’d love to hear what is working for you.

Lead to be limitless,

Signed Reneé

Limitless Leaders™ Connection: Three questions to ask as we lead into a hybrid workplace

Three questions to ask as we lead into a hybrid workplace

Are you ready to lead in a hybrid working environment?

The uncertainty of the past few months has also created both opportunity and possibility like we've never seen before.

As we know, a crisis can fast track change. Now is a great time to reflect on what you and your team have learnt and what you can take with you as you re-enter into a hybrid working environment.

Many of our clients have experienced deep collaboration, innovation and stronger relationships with their teams. Overall they are feeling more connected to their people! What a gift!

As we re-enter the workplace and make the shift to a hybrid working model, it’s essential to ensure we don’t forget the “gems” we have gleaned from remote work. We need to look backwards, look forwards and look around us by taking a peripheral view. We can get caught up in the doing and defaulting back to the way things were, it's too easy.

We've been exploring these three questions with clients:

  1. What will you let in?
  2. What will you let go of?
  3. What will you let be?

These questions are the foundation of our newly launched Setting the NEXT NORMAL™ team workshop programs.

As we approach the NEXT NORMAL™, avoid defaulting backwards in your thinking, your mindset and how you work. Click To Tweet

Now is the time to instil confidence in your team and take the shared lessons and the creative thinking into the future of work to re-energise purpose, performance and culture.

Love to hear your response to what you will let in, let go of and let be?

Lead to be limitless

Limitless Leaders™ Connection: Mindset Matters

Limitless Leadership Mindset Matters Image

Mindset Matters. Your mindset is a way of thinking. It is a collection of your attitudes, thoughts and beliefs that shape your thought habits. It is what you think day to day that can be a driving force to your success. Our mindset is a mental inclination or disposition, a frame of mind.

A very powerful aspect of mindsets is how quickly they can be shifted, and how powerful the consequences can be. Unlike skills that have to be practised again and again, mindsets sometimes show dramatic shifts.

It is imperative to develop a strong and disciplined mindset, as this gives you the ability and agility to own your thoughts and therefore your actions.

“You’re in charge of your mind. You can help it grow by using it in the right way”- Carol Dweck

Going from working onsite to working remotely requires us to upgrade our mindset as does living in a time of such great uncertainty. This is where the transition and acceptance have to start. As much as working remotely requires a physical change in our work, it also requires a psychological one.

Limitless Leadership Mindset Matters

Our thoughts and the feedback we receive from others will determine how we feel and this creates self-awareness and the action we do or do not take and the attention we give things.

The one thing we can control is our thoughts, and this is great news when going through change. Click To TweetControlling what you think and fostering a mindset that serves you can assist to adapt to new things successfully, such as working remotely and/or leading a remote team.

Take a moment:

  • What is an empowering thought I have in relation to working and/or leading remotely?
  • How does this make me feel?
  • What can I action right now?

As always, I’d love to hear what works for you and how you cultivate a mindset that sets you up for success? Lead to be limitless.

Limitless Leader™ – Be a disruptor – change the future

Disruptor Blue Eyes - Marcel proust quote

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes. – Marcel Proust

Be a disruptor and have a focus on being different, not better.  This can have a huge impact on the way you lead and serve yourself, team and organisation.

This is the level of leadership we dream about.  This level offers such game-changing value to the world that there is a fundamental shift in the playing field.  Wow! In his short post, Dr Scott Yorkovich lists five principles that define the disruptive leader. These resonate with the Limitless Leader ™ journey.

5 Principles that Define the “Disruptor”

They are:

  • disrupt shake up challengeLook at your problems in new ways;
  • Look for the problems others have labeled unsolvable;
  • Focus on direct and simple solutions;
  • Accept failure in the beginning; and
  • Be patient for long-term change and impatient for meaningful impact

The disruptive leader has what we call a Limitless mindset and looks at the circumstances with a reality distortion tool and possesses the ability to assemble a team committed to doing what has never been done. They have the ability to respond to the wind, manage the tide and consider the uncharted ocean ahead. And more often than not, disruptive and positive innovation results.

It’s great to know your current role,  but be aware of your next developmental step and have the drive and focus to get there. Many leaders may have the same levels of capability, but are missing that special and significant difference that makes the difference.

To being Limitless…

Limitless Leadership™: Reflecting on 2019 – did your year exceed your expectations?

refelcting on the year that was

Well here we are, at the end of another year and would you believe the end of another decade!  An opportunity to reflect on and consider the happenings.

How has your year been? Did it exceed your expectations?

This is a question I’ve asked many of my clients with varying responses. My question to you is did you set an expectation early in the year or did you face the year as it came?

For me on a personal and professional front this year it has been a huge one and quite bitter sweet.

Our business has experienced exciting growth with new clients joining our tribe, deeper work with existing clients and the successful launch of our 12mth Limitless Leaders Acceleration program  and many new masterclasses and transformational pathways for our clients.

After 9 years as an Accredited Coach I was awarded my PCC, Professional Certified Coach accreditation with the ICF which was great to be recognised to my commitment to coaching and equipping leaders to coach. We also launched the Limitless Leaders Podcast which is attracting listeners from all over the world and in between juggling 24 client projects I have mapped out my 2020 book which is exciting.

The flip side

On the flip side my beautiful sister who is my best friend, was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, which she is fighting like a trooper. This has taught me what pure resilience is and she is definitely the poster child for what I call a Gift Mindset™, the title of my next book.

“Years end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instil in us”

So why do we look back at the year that was?

questions to ask yourself as we head toward the end of another yearA calendar year is an approximation of the number of days of the earth's orbital period, following the Gregorian calendar this is 365 days. This is what we follow and as much as I believe in regular check points to reflect, recharge and reset in life as we near the year end it’s a good opportunity to reflect and be future ready to delve into the new year with 2020 vision!

I’ve always loved the number twelve, since I was a child. I’m not sure why and have always referred to 12 tips and ideas in workshops and in writing such as in my recent white paper The 12 Superpowers.

The number twelve carries religious and magical symbolism and generally represents perfection and entirety, interesting I think.

Reflecting on 2019…

On that note I’ve devised  12-prompters to review the year that was. You can do this reflection individually or as team, a great way to open up dialogue and share and promote human centred leadership at work.

Take some time to reflect in order to refuel and reset for the new year – ask yourself the 12 questions.  Note your responses and review regularly.

As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

Have a magical and safe festive season and we look forward to collaborating with you in 2020.

Lead to be limitless…
